Public Transit
To get to the Saint Louis Zoo from downtown St. Charles, head to the St. Charles Transit Center located at 301 S 1st St. Take the MetroBus route 18 (northbound towards St. Louis) to the North Hanley Transit Center. From there, transfer to the MetroLink light rail and ride towards the Forest Park-DeBaliviere station. Once you arrive at the Forest Park-DeBaliviere station, exit and walk approximately 0.5 miles south to the zoo entrance at 1 Government Dr.

Bicycle
If you enjoy cycling, you can ride your bike from St. Charles to the Saint Louis Zoo. Start at the Katy Trail, heading south towards St. Louis. Once you reach the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers, follow the bike paths along the riverfront. You'll eventually find routes that lead into Forest Park. Once in the park, follow signs for the Saint Louis Zoo, which is located at 1 Government Dr.

Walking from central St. Charles to the Saint Louis Zoo is a long trek, approximately 30 miles. However, if you're up for it, start at the St. Charles Historic District and head south along Main St, which will lead you towards the riverfront. Follow the river until you reach the bridge connecting to St. Louis. Once in St. Louis, navigate towards Forest Park, which is home to the zoo. This route may take several hours, so it's recommended to take breaks along the way.
