Discover more about Țaul Park

Țaul Park, located in the northern part of Moldova near the village of Țaul, is the country's largest park, spanning 46.2 hectares. Established in the early 20th century around the Pommer family estate, the park is divided into two main sections: the upper part, featuring the Pommer mansion surrounded by avenues and flower beds, and the lower part, resembling a forest with trees from various geographical regions. The park was founded by Ivan (Andrei Iacob) Pommer, a French-Russian banker, who commissioned landscape architect Ipolit Vladislav-Padalko to design the arboretum in 1901. Completed by 1904, the park boasts a collection of approximately 150 species of trees, shrubs, and vines, many of which are exotic and rare to Moldova. These include beech trees, Douglas firs from Canada, and Japanese cherry trees. The park also features a tranquil 2-hectare pond, adding to its scenic beauty. Visitors can explore the Pommer family palace, outhouses, and utility structures, remnants of the estate's historical significance. Although the park has faced neglect over the years, its picturesque valleys and peaceful pathways continue to offer a tranquil retreat for nature enthusiasts. The park's extensive network of alleys, walks, and paths stretches over 12.5 km, providing ample space for leisurely strolls. Țaul Park is considered a monument of landscape architecture and is under the administration of the Țaul village. Entrance to the park is free.
