Curchi Monastery: A Moldovan Spiritual Gem

Curchi Monastery, located in the Orhei district, is a serene escape into Moldova's spiritual heartland. Founded in 1773 by the brothers Iordache and Mihail Curchi, the monastery began as a modest wooden hermitage. Over time, it evolved into a significant architectural ensemble, blending Baroque and Neoclassical styles.The monastery's main church, the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God, is a highlight, boasting a design inspired by Bartolomeo Rastrelli, the architect behind St. Andrew's Church in Kyiv. Its 57-meter dome is the highest in Moldova.
