Here, one can find everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to meats, dairy products, clothing, and household items. Traditional Moldovan items such as handmade sheepskin hats and woven baskets are also readily available. In 1941, during World War II, the market was destroyed by retreating Soviet troops to prevent its resources from falling into enemy hands. It was subsequently rebuilt and renamed the Central Market. Today, it stands as a testament to the city's resilience and a vibrant center of Moldovan culture.Visiting the market provides an immersive experience, with the lively chatter of vendors and enticing aromas of local delicacies filling the air. Bargaining is a common practice, and engaging with the friendly vendors offers insights into Moldovan traditions. The market is open daily from 6 AM to 6 PM.
