Discover more about Țaul Park

Țaul Park, located in the village of Țaul, Dondușeni district, is the largest park in Moldova and a protected area recognized as a monument of landscape architecture. Spanning 46.2 hectares, the park was established in the early 1900s by Ivan Petersburg Pommer, a big Russian landowner, who commissioned landscape architect I. Vladislav-Padalco to design it. The park is divided into two main sections: the upper part, featuring the Pommer family's rustic residence surrounded by avenues and flower beds, and the lower part, resembling a forest with tree groupings from various geographical regions. The park's arboretum contains around 150 species of trees, shrubs, and vines, with over a hundred being exotic. Visitors can find various trees such as Beech, Douglas fir from Canada, Japanese cherry, and several types of Larch and Fir. The park features an extensive network of alleys, walks, and paths, totaling over 12.5 km in length. The Pommer mansion, along with outhouses and utility structures, adds historical charm to the park. While the park served as a sanatorium during the Soviet era, it faced neglect in the 1990s due to lack of funds. However, recent renovations have aimed to restore its infrastructure and integrate it into national and international tourist circuits. Today, Țaul Park remains a favorite spot for picnics, photography, and sightseeing, offering visitors a blend of natural beauty and historical significance.
