The Memorial of Glory, located on Suvorov Square in Tiraspol, is a significant landmark dedicated to the memory of those who perished in various conflicts. Opened on February 23, 1972, the memorial commemorates the veterans and fallen soldiers of the Great Patriotic War (World War II), the Soviet-Afghan War, and the Transnistria War. The memorial complex features several notable elements. At its center lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, marked by an eternal flame. A decommissioned T-34-85 tank, which participated in the liberation of Ukraine, Moldavia, Bulgaria, and Hungary, stands as a monument to the soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War. The tank was under the command of Lieutenant Boris Vasilyevich Sergeev. Encased beneath the tank is a capsule containing earth from Mamayev Kurgan, Volgograd. In the late 2000s, the memorial underwent reconstruction, which included the addition of a Wall of Memory inscribed with the names of defenders of Pridnestrovie and civilians who were killed during the armed conflict with Moldova from 1990-1992. A sculpture of a Grieving Mother by V. Tkachenko was also added. The memorial also includes a monument to soldiers who died in Afghanistan, which was opened in 1995. The Memorial of Glory serves as a place for reflection, remembrance, and paying respects to the past.
