Friendship Peak: A Breathtaking Encounter with Nature

Getting There

• Car

  If you have access to a car, start from the city of Ulaanbaatar. Head northeast on the A-10 highway towards the Khentii Mountains. After approximately 250 km, take the exit towards the town of Khentii, which is around 50 km from the peak's vicinity. Once in Khentii, follow the signs towards Burqan County. The roads may be unpaved and rugged, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Continue driving towards the Friendship Peak area, and look for local signs or maps indicating the peak's location. Park your vehicle at a designated area and prepare for a short hike to the peak.

• Public Transportation

  From Ulaanbaatar, take a bus or minivan to the town of Khentii. This journey will take approximately 5-7 hours depending on the road conditions and the type of vehicle. Upon arrival in Khentii, you can hire a local taxi or join a tour group that is headed towards Friendship Peak. Expect to pay around 10,000 MNT for the taxi ride to the foot of the peak. Once you arrive, you will need to hike a short distance to reach the peak. Be sure to wear appropriate hiking gear and carry water and snacks.

• Hiking

  After parking your car or arriving via public transport, you will need to undertake a hike to reach Friendship Peak. The trail is well-marked but can be steep in sections. Ensure you have a good map or a guide if you're unfamiliar with the area. The hike to the peak typically takes about 1-2 hours depending on your fitness level. It's advisable to start early in the morning to avoid the midday heat and to give yourself ample time to enjoy the views from the top.
