If you are driving from the central area of Orkhon Valley, head south on the main road towards the Shankh Monastery. Follow the road signs directing you towards Shankh Monastery which is approximately 30 kilometers away. The route will take you through beautiful landscapes typical of the region. As you approach, keep an eye out for the '3X23+GFG Shankh Rd' sign, which will lead you directly to the monastery. Parking is available near the entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach Shankh Monastery via public transportation, start by finding a shared minibus (known as a 'marshrutka') heading towards Shankh from the main bus station in Orkhon Valley. The fare is typically around 2,000 MNT. Inform the driver that you want to get off at Shankh Monastery. The journey may take about 1 hour depending on the stops. Once you arrive, the monastery will be a short walk from the drop-off point.
Walking
For those staying nearby or who prefer a more adventurous route, walking from the nearest village to Shankh Monastery is an option. From the village center, follow the dirt paths leading south. It's roughly a 5-kilometer walk, which should take about an hour. Make sure to have a map or a GPS device to help you navigate as some paths may not be well-marked.
