Car
From the main town of Kharkhorin, head west on the road towards Shankh Monastery. Continue on the paved road for about 30 kilometers. You will see signs directing you towards Shankh Monastery. The monastery is located approximately 3 kilometers off the main road, so follow the dirt road leading to the monastery. There is no entry fee for visiting the monastery, but be prepared for some rough terrain as you approach.
Public Transportation
From Kharkhorin, you can catch a minibus or shared taxi that travels to the direction of Shankh. Look for a minibus heading towards the Ovorkhangai region. The ride will take about 40-50 minutes. Once you reach the nearest point to the monastery, you may need to walk for about 3 kilometers along a dirt path to reach Shankh Monastery. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they will drop you off at the correct spot.
Walking
If you are already near the Shankh area, you can approach the monastery by walking. Follow the signs from the main road towards the monastery. It is a peaceful walk that takes approximately one hour from the nearest public transport stop. Ensure you have good walking shoes as the terrain can be uneven.
