Car
If you are driving, start from the main road in Orkhon Valley and head towards Kharkhorin. Follow the signs for Kharkhorin, and you will be on the A-1 highway. After approximately 40 kilometers, you will arrive at Kharkhorin. Once in Kharkhorin, look for the signs directing you to Erdene Zuu Monastery. The monastery is located just outside the town, approximately 2 kilometers from the center. You can park in the designated parking area near the entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach Erdene Zuu Monastery via public transportation, you will need to take a minibus (known locally as a 'marshrutka') from the main bus station in Orkhon Valley to Kharkhorin. The marshrutkas run regularly, but it's best to check the schedule as it can vary. The journey typically takes about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Kharkhorin, you can either walk (approximately 30 minutes) or take a taxi to the monastery, which is about 2 kilometers from the town center. Taxis are readily available and should cost around 2,000 to 5,000 MNT.
Walking
If you enjoy walking and are staying close to Kharkhorin, you can walk to Erdene Zuu Monastery. From the center of Kharkhorin, head west towards the monastery. The path is well-trodden and takes you through some scenic views of the surrounding landscape. It will take approximately 30 minutes on foot to reach the monastery. Ensure you have comfortable shoes, as the terrain can be uneven.
