Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from Livingston, Montana. Head south on US-89 S for about 16 miles. Turn left onto Deep Creek Road, which is a gravel road. Continue on Deep Creek Road for approximately 5 miles until you reach the South Fork Deep Creek Trailhead, located on the right side of the road. Ensure your vehicle has good clearance as the road can be rough in sections.

• Public Transportation + Car

  For those relying on public transportation, take a Greyhound bus or local shuttle to Livingston, MT. From the bus station, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) to Deep Creek Road. This is approximately a 20-minute drive. Be sure to communicate your destination clearly, as the trailhead is somewhat remote. Confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.

• Bicycle

  If you are an adventurous cyclist, you can bike from Livingston. Take US-89 S heading out of town, and then turn onto Deep Creek Road. The ride is about 21 miles one way, and it can be challenging due to elevation changes and gravel roads. Make sure to bring sufficient water and snacks, and wear a helmet. Expect to spend several hours biking to the trailhead.

• Hiking

  For those already camping or hiking in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, you can approach the South Fork Deep Creek Trailhead on foot if you're close.
