Public Transit
Start at the Billings Depot, located at 2310 Montana Ave. Board the MET Transit bus route #4, which operates daily with stops at various points in the city. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes until you reach the 'Rimrock Mall' stop. From there, transfer to bus route #2. Ride for another 15 minutes until you reach the 'Chief Black Otter Trail' stop. After disembarking, walk east on Chief Black Otter Trail for about 0.5 miles until you arrive at the Yellowstone Kelly Interpretive Site, which will be on your left.

Bicycle
If you are comfortable cycling, rent a bike from a local shop in downtown Billings. Start at the intersection of 27th St and Montana Ave, then head west on Montana Ave towards 24th St. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Rimrock Rd. Turn left and follow Rimrock Rd until you see the signs for Chief Black Otter Trail. Turn onto Chief Black Otter Trail and continue for about 1 mile until you arrive at the Yellowstone Kelly Interpretive Site.

Walking
From the downtown area, head towards the north on 27th St. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Montana Ave. Turn right onto Montana Ave and continue walking until you reach Rimrock Rd. Cross over to Rimrock Rd and walk until you see the signs for Chief Black Otter Trail. Follow Chief Black Otter Trail for about a mile, and you will reach the Yellowstone Kelly Interpretive Site on your left.
