From the center of Butte, start at the intersection of Park Street and Main Street. Head east on Park Street for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Montana Street. Turn left onto Montana Street and continue for about 0.3 miles. You will reach the intersection with Montana Highway 2. Turn right onto Montana Highway 2. Continue walking along Highway 2 for approximately 1.5 miles. Thompson Park will be on your left, look for the entrance marked with a park sign.

Catch the local bus service at any major bus stop in Butte, such as the Butte Transit Center located at 5 W Broadway St. Board the bus that heads towards the Montana Highway 2 route. Inform the driver that you would like to get off at the Thompson Park stop. Once you arrive, the park entrance will be a short walk from the bus stop.

If you have a bike, start at the Butte Silver Bow Public Library located at 226 W Broadway St. Head west on Broadway St for about 0.3 miles, then turn right onto Utah Avenue. Continue on Utah Avenue until you reach the intersection with Montana Highway 2. Turn left onto Highway 2 and bike along it for about 1.5 miles. Thompson Park will be on your left, and there are bike racks available near the entrance.
