Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from downtown Libby, head south on Mineral Avenue (the main street). Continue walking until you reach the junction with US-2. Turn left onto US-2 and walk for about 0.5 miles. After that, you will see a pedestrian path that leads to Kootenai Falls. Follow the path for approximately 1 mile, which will lead you directly to the viewing area of the falls.

• Biking

  Rent a bicycle from a local shop in Libby. Start at the intersection of Mineral Avenue and US-2. Head south on Mineral Avenue, then take a left onto US-2. Continue biking west for about 0.5 miles. You'll find a dedicated bike path that leads towards Kootenai Falls. Follow this path for about 1 mile until you reach the falls.

• Public Transportation

  Check if there are any local shuttle services or buses that operate from Libby to Kootenai Falls. If available, board the shuttle or bus at the Libby Transit Station located at 123 Main St. Confirm with the driver that the route includes a stop at Kootenai Falls. The falls are approximately 4 miles from the station, so the transit should take around 15-20 minutes depending on traffic.

• Hiking

  For adventurous travelers, you can hike to Kootenai Falls starting from Libby. Begin at the Libby City Park, located near the river. Follow the riverbank trail southwest for approximately 2 miles until you reach the Kootenai Falls trailhead. From there, it's a short hike of about 0.5 miles to the falls. Ensure you're prepared with water and suitable hiking gear.
