    If you're driving from Kalispell, take US-93 South for about 20 miles. Then, turn onto MT-40 East towards Hungry Horse. Continue for approximately 15 miles until you reach the town of Hungry Horse, MT. Once in Hungry Horse, you can access the Great Bear Wilderness area directly from the town.

    There is limited public transportation in the Flathead area. However, you can take a bus from Kalispell to Hungry Horse operated by Flathead County Public Transit. Once you arrive in Hungry Horse, you may need to arrange for a taxi or ride-share service to reach the trailheads for the Great Bear Wilderness, as they are not within walking distance from the bus stop.

  • Hiking
