Hiking
To reach Black Opal Pool on foot, start from the nearby Mystic Falls Trailhead, which is located off the Grand Loop Road near the Biscuit Basin area. Begin your hike on the Mystic Falls Trail, a moderately difficult trail. Follow the trail for about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) until you reach a junction. At this junction, take the right fork to continue towards the Black Opal Pool. The trail may have some elevation changes, so be prepared for a bit of a workout. As you get closer, look for the signs directing you to the pool. The total hike will take approximately 2 to 3 hours round trip, depending on your pace and the time you spend at the pool.
