Getting There

  • Hiking

    From Old Faithful, head east on the main walking path towards the Geyser Basin. Follow the signs directing you to the Grand Geyser. As you walk, you will pass by several smaller geysers and thermal features, which will be well-marked. Continue on the designated trail until you reach a fork, where you will see a sign for Grand Geyser. Take the left path and follow it for about 0.5 miles until you reach Grand Geyser, which is located near the outer edge of the thermal area.

  • Hiking

    If you are starting from the Biscuit Basin area, make your way south on the boardwalk trail that leads toward the Old Faithful area. After approximately 1 mile, you will reach a junction. Head left at the junction and continue along the path for another mile until you see the signs for Grand Geyser. The geyser is located a short walk from the main pathway.

    From the West Thumb Geyser Basin, you can take a longer hike to reach Grand Geyser. Start by heading north on the boardwalk towards the Yellowstone Lake. After about 1.5 miles, you'll reach the intersection with the main park road. Cross the road carefully and continue on the trail leading to Old Faithful. Once you arrive at Old Faithful, follow the previous instructions to reach Grand Geyser.
