Hiking
If you are starting from the Yellowstone Visitor Center, head east on the Grand Loop Road. Follow the signs for the Mud Volcano area. The hike to Mud Volcano is approximately 1 mile and will take you through a beautiful landscape filled with geothermal features. Along the way, you'll see various thermal pools and steam vents. Once you reach the Mud Volcano area, follow the boardwalks to explore the bubbling mud pots and sulphuric smells.

Public Transport (Shuttle)
Check the schedule for the Yellowstone shuttle service that operates within the park. From your current location, board a shuttle heading towards the Canyon Village area. Get off at the Mud Volcano stop. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes, and from the shuttle stop, it is a short walk to the Mud Volcano site. Be sure to check the shuttle times for your return trip.

If you are at the Canyon Village area, rent a bike and head south on the designated bike path. Follow the signs that lead to Mud Volcano. The bike ride is approximately 2 miles and offers scenic views of the park's wilderness. Once you reach the Mud Volcano area, you can park your bike and explore the site on foot.
