Walking
If you are starting from the Herceg Novi city center, head towards the waterfront promenade that runs along the coast. You can begin at the main square (Trg Republike) and walk towards the sea. As you reach the promenade, turn left and continue walking along the waterfront towards the direction of the old town. After approximately 10-15 minutes of walking, you will reach a small path leading uphill towards the fortress. Follow the signs for 'Fort Citadela' as you ascend the hill. The path is well-trodden, and you will enjoy beautiful views of the Bay of Kotor along the way.

If you are near the local bus station (Autobuska stanica), exit the station and walk towards the main road (Jadranska magistrala). Turn left and walk along the road for about 5 minutes until you see signs pointing to 'Fort Citadela.' Follow these signs which will take you onto a side street that leads uphill. This route will take you through some charming neighborhoods before reaching the fortress entrance.

From the Hotel Plaza, exit and turn right onto the main promenade. Continue walking straight until you reach the old town of Herceg Novi. Once in the old town, ask for directions to the 'Fort Citadela' as the locals are friendly and will guide you. The walk will take approximately 20 minutes through the quaint streets filled with shops and cafes. You will find a path leading up to the fortress that offers stunning views of the Adriatic Sea.
