Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from Kotor's waterfront, head towards the Old Town entrance, which is marked by a large stone gate. Once you pass through the gate, you will find yourself in the Old Town. Continue straight along the narrow cobblestone streets until you reach the main square, Trg od Oružja. From there, look for the signs pointing to the Fortress of San Giovanni. Follow these signs as you start to ascend the hill. The path will take you up through the old city walls. It’s a steep climb, but there are resting spots along the way. After about 30-45 minutes of walking, you will reach the viewpoint at the top of the fortress, which offers stunning views of Kotor and the bay.

• Walking

  If you are near the Clock Tower in the Old Town, start by walking towards the Church of St. Tryphon, which is a well-known landmark. From there, take the street that leads up towards the fortress. This path will lead you directly to the entrance of the fortress trail. Keep following the trail upward, and you will eventually reach the Kotor Old Town View. Take your time and enjoy the scenery as you climb.

  From the Maritime Museum located near the Old Town, head towards the city walls which can be seen from the museum. Walk along the walls until you find the steps that lead up to the fortress. The steps are marked, and you will be able to see the beautiful views of the Old Town as you ascend. Continue along the path until you reach the top, where Kotor Old Town View is situated. This route may take about 40 minutes, but it is well worth the effort for the panoramic views.
