    Getting There

    Walking

    From the Old Town of Kotor, head towards the Sea Gate (the main entrance to the Old Town). Once you exit, turn right and follow the waterfront path along the bay. Continue walking until you reach the steps leading up to the fortress, which is marked by a sign for St. John Fortress. Ascend the steps, which can be steep, and follow the trail marked with signs until you arrive at the fortress.

    If you are near the Kotor Marina, exit the marina area and head towards the Old Town via the waterfront. Once you reach the Sea Gate, follow the same route as above: turn right along the waterfront, and look for the steps that lead up towards St. John Fortress. Follow the signs along the trail up to the fortress.

    From the Kotor Bus Station, exit the station and walk towards the Old Town, which is about a 10-15 minute walk. Once you reach the Sea Gate, turn right and proceed along the waterfront path until you see the steps leading up to St. John Fortress. Take these steps and follow the trail up, keeping an eye out for signs directing you to the fortress.
