Walking
From the bustling Jemaa el-Fnaa square, head southwest towards Rue de la Koutoubia. Keep the large market square on your left as you walk. The Koutoubia Mosque will be visible ahead of you after about a 10-minute walk. Follow the signs and flow of tourists, as this is a well-trodden route. Once you reach the end of the street, you will find the entrance and the beautiful gardens surrounding the mosque.
Public Transportation (Bus)
If you are further away in the Medina, consider taking a local bus to the Koutoubia area. Look for bus stops marked with 'Ligne 1' which will take you close to the mosque. You can board a bus from various points in the Medina, and it will cost around 6 MAD (Moroccan Dirhams). Alight at the Koutoubia stop, and you'll be just a short 5-minute walk from the mosque.
Horse-Drawn Carriage (Calèche)
For a unique experience, you can hire a horse-drawn carriage (Calèche) from Jemaa el-Fnaa or other central locations in the Medina. Negotiate the price beforehand; rides to Koutoubia usually cost around 100 MAD. Enjoy the ride as you pass through the vibrant streets of Marrakech. The carriage will drop you off right near the entrance to the mosque.
Taxi (Petite Taxi)
Although you won't be using a car, if you are carrying heavy luggage or tired, you can take a 'Petite Taxi' (small taxi). These taxis are blue and can be found throughout the Medina. Ensure you agree on the fare before getting in; a trip to Koutoubia should cost approximately 20-30 MAD from central Medina. The taxi will drop you off right at the mosque.
