Car
If you're driving, start from the city center of Marrakesh. Head southeast on Avenue Mohammed VI, then turn right onto Rue de la Liberté. Continue straight until you reach the Medina area. Follow signs to the Medina, which will lead you to the narrow streets of the old town. Once inside the Medina, look for Rue Assouel. Medresa Ben Youssef is located directly on this street. There is limited parking available near the entrance, so be prepared to park a bit further away and walk. Note that parking may incur a small fee.
Taxi
Taking a taxi is a convenient option. Hail a taxi from anywhere in Marrakesh. Make sure to specify 'Medresa Ben Youssef' or show the driver the address: Rue Assouel, Marrakech 40000. Expect to pay around 20-50 MAD for a taxi ride from various points in the city to the Medresa, depending on your starting location. It's advisable to agree on the fare beforehand or ensure the meter is running.
Public Transportation (Bus)
You can take a bus to the Medina area. Look for bus number 1, which runs from the main bus station to the Medina. Get off at the stop closest to the Medina entrance. From there, you will need to walk towards the heart of the Medina. Follow signs for Rue Assouel. Medresa Ben Youssef is a short walk from the main entrance of the Medina. The bus fare is typically around 4 MAD.
Walking
If you are already within the Medina or nearby, walking is a great way to explore the area. Navigate through the bustling streets, enjoying the sights and sounds of Marrakesh. Look for Rue Assouel, which is well-marked. Medresa Ben Youssef is located directly on this street. The walk will take approximately 15-20 minutes from the main square, Jemaa el-Fnaa.
Use Medresa Ben Youssef as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
