Walking
If you are in central Matola, start by heading towards the main road, Avenida da República. From there, walk towards the Matola Market, which is a well-known landmark. Once you reach the market, continue straight until you reach the intersection with Avenida da Liberdade. Turn left onto Avenida da Liberdade and walk until you reach the roundabout. From the roundabout, you will see signs directing you towards Maputo. Continue walking straight; you will cross a bridge that goes over the railway tracks. After crossing the bridge, keep an eye out for a pedestrian crossing to your right that leads to Praça da Independência, located in Maputo. Follow the path, and you will reach Praça da Independência in approximately 30-40 minutes.

From any central location in Matola, make your way to the nearest minibus station, known locally as a 'bandeira'. Look for a minibus that is heading towards Maputo. The fare is typically very affordable, and the journey takes about 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Maputo, ask the driver to drop you off near Praça da Independência. After disembarking, walk towards the square, which should be visible as a large open area. It’s a short walk from the minibus stop, taking about 5-10 minutes.
