Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the town of Nyaung Shwe, which is the gateway to Inle Lake. Take the road heading south from Nyaung Shwe towards Nampan. After approximately 20 kilometers, you'll reach Nampan. From Nampan, follow the signs to Nyaung Ohak, which is roughly 15 kilometers away. The road is well-marked, and you can enjoy the scenic views of the lake and surrounding hills along the way. Be aware of the local traffic norms and expect some winding roads.
Public Transportation
To reach Nyaung Ohak using public transportation, begin your journey in Nyaung Shwe. Head to the central bus station and look for a local bus or shared taxi heading to Nampan. The fare for the bus is around 1,000 to 2,000 MMK (Myanmar Kyat), and the journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Nampan, you can hire a motorbike taxi or a local tricycle (trishaw) to take you to Nyaung Ohak, which will cost approximately 3,000 to 5,000 MMK for the short ride. Make sure to negotiate the price beforehand.
Bicycle
For the more adventurous travelers, renting a bicycle in Nyaung Shwe is a great way to reach Nyaung Ohak. From Nyaung Shwe, cycle south towards Nampan, which is about 20 kilometers away. The route is relatively flat but can be busy with local traffic. Once in Nampan, follow the signs to Nyaung Ohak, which is an additional 15 kilometers. This option allows you to enjoy the rural landscape at your own pace, but be sure to carry water and snacks for the journey.
