Car
If you're traveling by car, head towards Old Bagan from your location in Magway Region. The most common route is to take the Ayeyarwady River Road (also known as Route 1). Depending on your starting point, this drive can take around 2 to 3 hours. Once you reach Old Bagan, look for signs directing you to Bupaya Pagoda, which is located near the riverbank. The specific address for Bupaya is 5VG5+G5C, Old Bagan. There is ample parking available nearby.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Bupaya via public transportation, find a local bus that travels from Magway to Bagan. The bus journey takes approximately 4 to 5 hours, and you can catch a bus from the main bus station in Magway. Ensure to confirm with the bus staff that your bus will stop in Old Bagan. After arriving in Old Bagan, you can either walk (about 15 minutes) or take a short taxi ride to Bupaya Pagoda, located at 5VG5+G5C, Old Bagan. Expect to pay around 1,000 MMK for a taxi.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route without the bus, you can hire a taxi from Magway directly to Bupaya Pagoda. The fare can range from 30,000 to 50,000 MMK depending on negotiation and the distance. The trip will take about 2 to 3 hours, and the driver should know the location of Bupaya Pagoda, which is near the Ayeyarwady River in Old Bagan.
Motorbike Rental
For the more adventurous, consider renting a motorbike in Magway. After securing your bike, follow the same directions as for car travel towards Old Bagan via the Ayeyarwady River Road. The ride will take around 2 to 3 hours. Once in Old Bagan, navigate to Bupaya Pagoda. Remember to wear a helmet and follow local traffic rules. Rental prices typically start around 5,000 MMK per day.
