If you are traveling by car, you can drive from Bagan to Mt Popa, which is approximately a 50-minute journey (about 42 km). Start on the Ayeyarwady Region Road (also known as the Nyaung-U to Popa Road). Follow the signs towards Mt Popa. You will pass through picturesque rural landscapes. Upon reaching Mt Popa, you will find a parking area near the base of the mountain where you can leave your vehicle.

Public Transportation (Bus)
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Nyaung-U or Bagan to Mt Popa. Buses typically depart from the main bus terminals in these towns. The journey takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, and tickets cost around 1,000 to 2,000 MMK (Myanmar Kyat). Once you arrive at the Mt Popa bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 km to the base of the mountain. Follow the signs, and you will reach the entrance where you can start your ascent.

Another convenient option is to hire a taxi or use a ride-sharing app if available. From Bagan, a taxi ride to Mt Popa should cost around 15,000 to 20,000 MMK. The journey takes approximately 50 minutes. Once you reach the location, the taxi can wait for you or return to pick you up after your visit.
