Car
From Windhoek, take the B1 road north towards Okahandja. Continue on the B1 for about 70 km until you reach the turnoff for the B2 road. Turn left onto the B2 and travel for approximately 80 km. At the junction with the C22 road, turn right and follow the C22 for about 40 km. Look for the signs leading to Waterberg Plateau National Park, which will be on your left. The entire journey should take around 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on traffic.
Public Transportation
To reach Waterberg Plateau National Park using public transport, you can take a bus from Windhoek to Otjiwarongo. Several bus companies operate on this route, and the journey takes about 3 to 4 hours. Once you arrive in Otjiwarongo, you can hire a taxi or a shuttle service to take you to Waterberg Plateau National Park, which is approximately 60 km away. Be prepared for additional costs, as taxi fares can range from NAD 700 to NAD 1000 depending on the service.
Taxi or Shuttle from Otjiwarongo
After arriving in Otjiwarongo, you will need to secure a taxi or shuttle to Waterberg Plateau National Park. Local taxis are often available near the bus station, but it’s advisable to agree on a fare beforehand. The trip will take about 45 minutes to 1 hour. If you prefer a shuttle service, you can pre-book one through local tour operators or your hotel in Otjiwarongo. This is a more reliable option but may be slightly more expensive.
