Car
If you're traveling by car, begin your journey in Rundu, the main town in Kavango East. Take the B10 road heading southeast towards Divundu. After approximately 100 km, turn onto the C49 road towards the Mbunza Living Museum, which is located near the Hakusembe River. The museum is situated at coordinates -17.8544543, 19.6689763. Follow the road signs towards the museum, and you should arrive in about 30 minutes from the turnoff. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition for the trip, and have enough fuel, as gas stations may be sparse along this route.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start at the Rundu bus station. Look for a bus heading towards Divundu. The bus ride typically takes around 2 to 3 hours, depending on stops. Once you reach Divundu, you can either take a taxi or arrange for a local guide to take you to the Mbunza Living Museum, which is about 20 km away. The taxi fare to the museum should be negotiated before your trip, and you can expect to pay around N$100 to N$150 for the ride. Make sure to confirm the taxi's return time or arrange for transportation back to Divundu after your visit.
Combined Transport
A combination of transport methods can also be an option. Start by taking a bus from Rundu to Divundu, and then hire a local taxi to the Mbunza Living Museum. This is ideal if you prefer flexibility in your schedule. Again, ensure you negotiate the taxi fare beforehand. After your visit, you can arrange the taxi to take you back to Divundu for your return bus to Rundu.
