Turn left onto C13 and continue for approximately 50 kilometers. You will eventually see signs directing you to Lüderitz. The total drive should take around 3 to 4 hours depending on your starting point and traffic conditions. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition, as some parts of the roads can be rough.
Public Transportation
To reach Lüderitz via public transport, first take a bus from Windhoek to Keetmanshoop. The bus service is provided by companies such as Intercape and the journey takes about 12 hours, costing around $30-$50 USD. From Keetmanshoop, you can catch a local shuttle or taxi service to Lüderitz, which is approximately 120 kilometers away. The shuttle ride may cost around $10-$15 USD and take about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Combination of Car and Public Transportation
If you are in a remote area of the Namib Desert, consider renting a car to get to a larger town such as Sesriem or Solitaire, where you can access bus services. From there, take a bus to Windhoek, and then follow the public transportation guide mentioned earlier. This way, you can experience both the freedom of driving in the desert and the convenience of public transport for longer distances.
