Car Rental
If you are traveling by car, you can rent a vehicle in Windhoek or Swakopmund. From Windhoek, take the B1 highway south toward Sesriem. The drive is approximately 350 km and takes around 5 hours. Follow the B1 until you reach the turn-off for the D826 road. Turn onto D826 and continue for about 60 km until you reach Desert Camp, which is located on the right side of the road. Make sure to have a GPS or a map handy, as the roads can be remote.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, you can take a shuttle or bus service from Windhoek to Sesriem. Companies like Intercape and Chobe Travel offer services to Sesriem, but you need to confirm the schedule as they may not run daily. The journey takes about 7-8 hours. Once in Sesriem, you can arrange for a taxi or a shuttle service to Desert Camp, which is approximately 5 km away. Be sure to book this in advance and confirm the cost, which may be around 100-200 NAD.
Taxi
If you find yourself in Sesriem and need to get to Desert Camp, you can hire a local taxi. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand, as there are no set meters. The trip should cost around 100-150 NAD and takes about 10 minutes.
Shuttle Service
Desert Camp offers its own shuttle service from Sesriem. If you are staying at the camp or have made a reservation, inquire about their shuttle options. This can be a convenient way to travel directly to the camp, and the cost will be included in your accommodation package or charged separately based on your arrangements.
