Getting There

• Car

  If you are starting your journey from Chadron, NE, head south on US-385 S for approximately 10 miles. After this, turn left onto the Soldier Creek Road, which is marked by a sign for the Soldier Creek Wilderness. Follow this road for about 3 miles until you reach the designated parking area at the entrance of the wilderness area. Be aware that some sections of the road may be unpaved, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended.

• Public Transportation + Hiking

  For those relying on public transportation, take a bus or shuttle service from Chadron to the nearest stop on US-385 S. Once you arrive at the bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles south along US-385 S until you reach Soldier Creek Road. From there, either walk or hitch a ride to the entrance of the Soldier Creek Wilderness. This part of the journey may require good walking shoes, as the terrain can be rough. Note that public transportation options may be limited, and it's advisable to check the schedule beforehand.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous cyclist, start from Chadron and follow the same route as the car guidance. Biking down US-385 S is an option, but be cautious of traffic. Once you reach Soldier Creek Road, you can continue biking until you reach the parking area. Make sure to wear a helmet and have proper biking gear, as the roads can be uneven and may require a mountain bike for the best experience.
