Public Transportation
To reach North Annapurna Base Camp from Pokhara, take a local bus or jeep to Nayapul. This journey typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours and costs approximately NPR 300-500. Once in Nayapul, you will begin the trek towards Tikhedhunga or Ulleri. From Tikhedhunga, trek through beautiful landscapes and local villages to reach Ghorepani. This section usually takes about 5-6 hours of trekking. From Ghorepani, it is advisable to make an early morning hike to Poon Hill for sunrise views before continuing your trek toward Tadapani. The next leg involves trekking from Tadapani to Chhomrong, which can take about 4-5 hours. After Chhomrong, continue your trek to Bamboo and then to Deurali. The trek from Deurali to North Annapurna Base Camp will take approximately 5-6 hours. Ensure that you have the necessary permits (TIMS and ACAP) which can be acquired in Pokhara.
Private Vehicle
If you prefer more comfort, you can hire a private vehicle from Pokhara to Nayapul. This option allows for more flexibility in your schedule. The cost for a private vehicle is around NPR 3000-5000 depending on the type of vehicle and negotiation. After reaching Nayapul, follow the same trekking route as described above. Be sure to carry enough cash, as there are limited ATMs along the trekking route.
Trekking
Once you've reached Nayapul, the trek to North Annapurna Base Camp requires good physical fitness. The trek involves various ascents and descents, and you will pass through several villages, where you can rest and find food. It is advisable to stay overnight at Ghorepani or Chhomrong if you're looking to break the trek into manageable sections. Always carry enough water and snacks, and consider hiring a local guide for a better experience and safety.
