Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from Bhaktapur Durbar Square, head northeast towards the main road (Bhadgoan Road). Continue walking straight for about 700 meters until you reach the intersection with Gahiti Road. Turn left onto Gahiti Road and continue until you reach the junction with the main road again. From there, take a right onto the main road and walk for approximately 1.5 kilometers until you reach the Budhanilkantha area. Look for signs directing you to Kopan Monastery, which is just off the main road on your left.

If you are near Taumadhi Square, walk towards the east exit of the square. Once you exit, turn right onto the main road (Bhadgoan Road). Walk straight for about 1 kilometer until you see the signs for Budhanilkantha. Continue walking straight for another 1 kilometer, and you will approach Kopan Monastery, which will be located on your left.

From Bhaktapur Bus Park, exit the park and head towards the east. Walk along the main road (Bhadgoan Road) for about 1.2 kilometers. You will pass some local shops and eateries. Keep walking until you reach the Budhanilkantha area. Look for the entrance to Kopan Monastery on your left side, marked by a stupa and beautiful gardens.

If you are at the Bhaktapur National Art Gallery, exit the gallery and head towards the main road. Walk west towards the Bhadgoan Road. Once you reach the main road, turn right and walk for about 2 kilometers. You will see directional signs leading towards Budhanilkantha. Continue on this road, and Kopan Monastery will be on your left.
