Getting There

  • Walking

    From Bhaktapur Durbar Square, head east towards the main road. Walk along the road for about 15 minutes until you reach the intersection with the Boudha Road. Continue straight onto Boudha Road and follow it for approximately 20 minutes. As you approach Boudhanath Stupa, keep an eye out for the Guru Lhakhang Monastery located on your right side, just past the main entrance to the Stupa area.

    Rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops near Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Start by cycling east towards the main road and follow the same route as for walking. The ride should take around 20-25 minutes. Once you reach Boudha Road, cycle along it for about 15 minutes. Look for Guru Lhakhang Monastery on your right as you approach the Boudhanath Stupa.

    From Bhaktapur Durbar Square, walk to the nearest bus station. Take a local bus that is heading towards Kathmandu. Inform the conductor that you want to get off at Boudhanath Stupa. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive, walk towards the Stupa and look for Guru Lhakhang Monastery located just past the entrance on your right.
