Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest city, such as Kathmandu or Pokhara. From Kathmandu, take the Prithvi Highway (also known as the Kathmandu-Pokhara Highway) towards Mugling. Follow the highway until you reach the Mugling junction. At Mugling, take the road towards Gorkha. Continue driving for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the base of the Manakamana cable car station located in the town of Manakamana. Parking is available near the cable car station. Note that the road can be winding and may require careful driving.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Kathmandu or Pokhara to Mugling. Buses frequently depart from the bus terminal and the journey takes around 5 to 7 hours depending on traffic. Once you arrive at Mugling, you can either take a local taxi or walk to the Manakamana cable car station, which is about a 15-minute drive. The cable car ride from the base station to Manakamana Temple takes approximately 10 minutes and costs around NPR 1,200 for a round trip.
Cable Car
After reaching the Manakamana cable car station, purchase your ticket. The cable car operates daily, and the views during the ride are breathtaking as you ascend towards the temple. The cable car runs frequently, so you should not have to wait long. Upon reaching the top, follow the signs to Manakamana Temple, which is a short walk from the cable car station.
