Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the town of Juphal, which is the main access point for Shey Phoksundo National Park. From Juphal, take the road towards Suligad. The road is rough and may require a sturdy vehicle. The distance from Juphal to Suligad is approximately 22 kilometers and will take around 1-2 hours depending on road conditions. Ensure you have enough fuel and supplies as services are limited along the route.
Public Transportation
To reach Shey Phoksundo National Park via public transportation, you can take a jeep from Juphal to Suligad. The jeeps usually leave in the morning and the fare is around NPR 1000-1500 per person. The journey takes about 1-2 hours. Be sure to check the schedule and arrive early as seats can fill up quickly. Once you arrive in Suligad, you will be at the park entrance.
Trekking
If you are up for an adventure, after reaching Suligad, you can trek into the park itself. The trek from Suligad to the Shey Phoksundo Lake is about 7-8 hours and is well-marked. You will encounter stunning landscapes and local villages along the way. Make sure to have a good map or hire a local guide to assist you. Trekking permits are required for entering the park, so ensure you secure those in advance.
