Getting There

• Public Transportation

  From Kathmandu, take a tourist bus to Lukla. This journey typically takes about 8-10 hours and costs between NPR 1,500 to NPR 2,500. Upon arrival in Lukla, you'll need to take a short flight to the nearest airstrip or trek to Phakding, which is part of the Everest region. From Phakding, you can hire a local guide or join a trekking group heading towards Gokyo Lakes.

• Trekking

  Once you reach Phakding, begin your trek towards Gokyo Lakes. Follow the trail that leads to Namche Bazaar, a significant stop along the way. After acclimatizing in Namche, continue your trek towards Gokyo Valley. The trek to Gokyo Lake from Namche takes about 4-5 days, with stunning views along the way. Make sure you have proper trekking gear and sufficient water and snacks. Local teahouses provide food and accommodation.

• Local Guide Services

  Consider hiring a local guide who can lead you to Gokyo Lake. Guides can be hired in Lukla or Namche Bazaar and typically charge between NPR 3,000 to NPR 5,000 per day, depending on the season and the length of your trek. They will provide valuable insights and ensure your safety during the trek.

• Accommodation

  Along the trekking route, you will find numerous teahouses offering accommodation. Prices typically range from NPR 500 to NPR 1,000 per night. Make sure to book in advance during the peak trekking season (March to May and September to November) to secure your stay.
