If you are traveling by car, start by heading east from the center of Himalayan towards the Araniko Highway (also known as the Kathmandu-Bhaktapur Highway). Follow the highway for approximately 12 kilometers until you reach the Bhaktapur exit. Take the exit and follow the signs directing you to Bhaktapur Durbar Square. As you approach Bhaktapur city, you will encounter several narrow streets. Follow the main road into the city and look for parking areas. Note that parking might incur a small fee (around NPR 50-100). After parking, it’s a short walk to Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
Public Transportation (Bus)
For those using public transportation, catch a bus from the main bus station in Himalayan heading towards Bhaktapur. Buses are frequent and the journey takes about 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. The fare is typically around NPR 50-75. Once you arrive at the Bhaktapur bus station, you will need to walk approximately 10-15 minutes to reach Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Just follow the main road signs leading into the city center.
Taxi
Another option is to hire a taxi from Himalayan directly to Bhaktapur Durbar Square. This method is more comfortable but also more expensive, with fares usually ranging from NPR 1500 to NPR 2500 depending on negotiation and traffic. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive, the taxi can drop you off near the entrance to Bhaktapur Durbar Square.
