Bus
From the Thamel area, walk to the nearest bus stop and take a local bus heading towards Bhaktapur. You will need to pay the fare (around NPR 30). The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour. Get off at the Simalchaur bus stop. From there, walk towards Namobuddha Rd for about 15-20 minutes; you will see signs directing you to the Namo Buddha Stupa.
Taxi (local taxi or ride-sharing)
From Thamel, you can hire a local taxi or use a ride-sharing app. Simply tell the driver 'Namo Buddha Stupa' or show them the address: HHFM+63M, Namobuddha Rd, Simalchaur Syampati 45200. The journey will take approximately 40 minutes depending on traffic. Ensure to negotiate the fare beforehand or check the app for the fare estimate.
Bicycle
If you are feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from a local shop in Thamel. Head east towards Boudhanath Stupa, then continue on the road leading to Bhaktapur. Follow the signs for Namo Buddha as you ride. The journey will take around 2-3 hours, depending on your pace. Make sure to have a map or GPS to help navigate.
Walking Tour
If you're up for a long walk, you can start from the Thamel area and head towards Boudhanath. From Boudhanath, follow the road towards Bhaktapur. This is a scenic route but can take around 4-5 hours on foot. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated. Follow the signs to Simalchaur once you reach the outskirts of Bhaktapur.
