Walking
From the center of Durbar Square, head towards the eastern side where you will see the entrance to the Nine Storey Palace, also known as the Basantapur Durbar. Walk past the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, which is marked by its distinct architecture. Look for the large wooden doors that lead into the palace complex. The palace is located at P834+HXM, Kathmandu 44600, and is easily identifiable by its towering structure. Follow the path that leads directly to the main entrance, which is only a few minutes away from the square.
Walking
If you are near the Kumari Ghar (the residence of the Living Goddess), simply walk towards the south-east corner of the square. Continue walking straight for about 5 minutes, and you will arrive at the Nine Storey Palace. The path is well-trodden and often frequented by tourists, making it easy to navigate.

From the western end of Durbar Square, head towards the central area, and you will see signs directing you to the Nine Storey Palace. It’s a short walk of about 7 minutes. Take note of the various shops and stalls along the way, which showcase local crafts and souvenirs. This route provides a vibrant experience of the local culture as you approach your destination.
