Getting There

  • Car

    Start your journey from any location in the Koshi Zone and drive towards Lukla. The most common route is through the Araniko Highway to Dolakha, then follow the signs to Charikot and onwards to the Lukla road. The drive is approximately 10-12 hours depending on road conditions. Once you reach Lukla, you will need to park your car in a designated area as vehicles cannot proceed further.

  • Flight

    From Lukla, you need to take a domestic flight to the Everest region. Regular flights are available from Luka to various destinations including Phakding or Namche Bazaar. The flight takes around 30-45 minutes, but it is advisable to book your tickets in advance, especially during peak trekking seasons.

  • Trekking

    Once you arrive in Phakding or Namche Bazaar, the trek to Everest Base Camp begins. From Phakding, it is a 5-6 hour trek to Namche Bazaar, where you can acclimatize and rest. After spending a day in Namche, continue your trek towards Tengboche, then to Dingboche, and finally reach Gorak Shep, which is the last stop before Everest Base Camp. The trek from Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp takes about 2-3 hours. The entire trek is approximately 12-14 days round trip from Lukla.
