From there, we drove to Bodh Gaya, home to the sacred Mahabodhi Temple and the legendary Bodhi Tree, where Buddha attained enlightenment. Seeing the Great Buddha Statue and Sujata Kuti up close made the history feel real, not just something out of a textbook. Next came Rajgir and Nalanda, where we explored the ancient Nalanda University ruins — a must for anyone interested in Buddhist heritage and history in Bihar. The Bimbisar Jail stop added great historical context too. We then crossed into the Kushinagar region, visiting the Parinirvana Stupa and Ramabhar Stupa, the exact place where Buddha took his final breath. Deeply moving. Crossing the border into Lumbini, Nepal, was a highlight — visiting the Maya Devi Temple, Buddha's actual birthplace, felt like the emotional peak of the whole Buddhist heritage tour. The final days covering Kapilvastu and Shravasti, including the Angulimala Stupa, rounded out the pilgrimage beautifully before ending in Lucknow.
