• Car from Kathmandu to Sotikhola

  Start your journey from Kathmandu by taking a private taxi or renting a car. The drive to Sotikhola, which is the starting point for the Manaslu Circuit Trek, takes approximately 8 to 10 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. The route will take you through scenic hills and small villages. Make sure to carry some snacks and water for the journey. Expect to pay around NPR 10,000 to NPR 15,000 for a private taxi. If you opt for a bus, head to the bus terminal in Gongabu and take a local bus to Sotikhola; this will take about 10-12 hours and costs around NPR 1,500 to NPR 2,000.

• Public Transportation from Kathmandu to Sotikhola

  To get to Sotikhola using public transport, make your way to the Gongabu Bus Park in Kathmandu. Several buses leave daily for Sotikhola. The journey takes approximately 10 to 12 hours, and it is advisable to leave early in the morning. Tickets can be purchased at the bus terminal for around NPR 1,500 to NPR 2,000. Ensure you arrive at the bus station early to secure a seat, as buses can fill up quickly.

• Trekking from Sotikhola to Machha Khola

  Upon arriving in Sotikhola, you will need to start your trek to Machha Khola, which is about a 3 to 4-hour hike. Follow the trail along the Budhi Gandaki River, which is marked and relatively easy to navigate. Ensure you have proper trekking gear and enough water. There are guesthouses available if you plan to stay overnight.

• Local Transportation (Jeep) from Sotikhola to Machha Khola

  If you prefer not to trek from Sotikhola to Machha Khola, consider hiring a local jeep. This option is more expensive, costing around NPR 2,500 to NPR 3,500 per person, but it saves you time and energy. Shared jeeps operate regularly, and you can find them near the bus stop in Sotikhola.
