Getting There

Walking
From the center of Nagarkot, head south towards the main road. Follow the path downhill until you reach the main road (Nagarkot to Bhaktapur Road). Turn left and follow the road for approximately 200 meters until you reach the bus stop. Here, you can catch a local bus to Kathmandu. The bus will take you along the scenic route down the hills. Make sure to tell the driver you want to go to 'Basantapur' or 'Hanuman Dhoka'. After about an hour, you'll arrive in Kathmandu. Once in Kathmandu, walk towards Basantapur and you will see Hanuman Dhoka on your left.

Trekking
If you're feeling adventurous, you can trek from Nagarkot to Kathmandu, which takes about 4-5 hours. Start from Nagarkot and head south. Follow the trail that descends through the forested areas and local villages. Keep an eye on the signposts indicating the direction to Bhaktapur. Once you reach the main road, turn left and continue towards Bhaktapur. After crossing the Bhaktapur border, ask locals for directions to Basantapur. This trek offers beautiful views and a unique experience of rural life in Nepal.

If you’re at the main bus stop in Nagarkot, look for a bus heading to Kathmandu. The buses are frequent, typically leaving every 30 minutes. When you board, inform the driver that you want to get off at Basantapur. The ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in Kathmandu, walk towards Basantapur Square where Hanuman Dhoka is located, just a short walk from the bus station.
