Getting There

Walking
From the main square of Nagarkot, head southwest along the main road towards Bhaktapur. Continue walking for about 30 minutes, passing by local shops and small cafes. Look for signs pointing towards Budhanilkantha. As you approach Budhanilkantha, you will see the Kopan Monastery sign on your left before reaching the busy intersection. The monastery is located about 200 meters from the main road. Follow the signs that lead you up a slight hill to the entrance of the monastery.

Hiking
If you're feeling adventurous, you can hike from Nagarkot to Kopan Monastery. Start by taking the trail that leads towards the forested area north of Nagarkot. Follow the path that goes downhill until you reach the valley. Keep an eye out for trail markers. After about 1 hour of hiking, you will reach the outskirts of Budhanilkantha. From there, make your way to the main road and follow it to the monastery. This route offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys.

While in Nagarkot, you can take a local bus towards Bhaktapur. The bus stop is near the main square. Ask locals for the bus schedule; they typically run every 30 minutes. Ride the bus for about 20 minutes and get off at Budhanilkantha. From the bus stop, walk south along the main road for about 10 minutes until you see the entrance to Kopan Monastery on your right. Make sure to check the timings, as the last bus back to Nagarkot might leave in the evening.
