Bhairavnath Temple: A Divine Oasis in Bhaktapur

Getting There

• Walking

  From Patan Durbar Square, head east on Krishna Mandir Road. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Lalitpur - Bhaktapur Road. Turn left onto Lalitpur - Bhaktapur Road and walk for approximately 1.5 kilometers. You will pass several local shops and eateries along the way. After 20-25 minutes of walking, you will reach the entrance of Bhaktapur. Once inside the Bhaktapur Durbar Square area, follow the signs to Taumadhi Square. The Bhairavnath Temple is located prominently at Taumadhi Square, just a short walk from the square's center.

• Public Transport

  From Patan, head to the nearest bus stop and take a local microbus heading towards Bhaktapur. The fare is quite affordable, usually around 50 NPR. The journey will take about 30 minutes. Ask the conductor to let you know when to get off at Bhaktapur. Once you arrive at the Bhaktapur bus park, exit and walk towards Bhaktapur Durbar Square, which is about a 10-minute walk. Follow the signs towards Taumadhi Square, where the Bhairavnath Temple is located.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to rent a bicycle in Patan, head towards the main road leading out of Patan. Cycle along the road towards Bhaktapur. The route is relatively straightforward, taking you through scenic neighborhoods. The distance is about 8 kilometers and will take approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on your cycling speed. Once you reach Bhaktapur, park your bicycle near the entrance and walk towards Taumadhi Square. The Bhairavnath Temple is easily visible once you enter the square.
