Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major city, Janakpur. Take the Mahendra Highway (H01) and drive towards the east. After approximately 50 kilometers, take a left towards the Kulekhani area. Continue on the road for about 15 kilometers until you reach J544+V38 Hydropower Reservoir, which is the location of Indra Sarovar. Be aware that the road may have some rough patches, so drive cautiously.
Public Bus
For those opting for public transportation, head to the Janakpur bus station and find a bus that is heading towards Kulekhani. The fare is typically around NPR 150-200, depending on the service. The journey will take approximately 2-3 hours. Ask the bus conductor to drop you off at Kulekhani. From there, you can hire a local taxi or use a rickshaw to reach Indra Sarovar, which will cost an additional NPR 100-150.
Rickshaw
If you are already in Kulekhani, you can easily hire a rickshaw to take you to Indra Sarovar. Negotiate the fare beforehand; it should be around NPR 100-150 for the short ride. The rickshaw drivers are familiar with the area and can drop you directly at the lake.
Walking
For those adventurous enough, if you are already in the vicinity of Kulekhani, you can walk to Indra Sarovar from the local area. It's about a 20-30 minute walk, depending on your pace. Follow the signs that lead towards the hydropower reservoir, and you will reach the lake without any issues.
