Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Kathmandu. Take the Prithvi Highway towards Dhulikhel and continue on the Araniko Highway to reach Barabise. From Barabise, follow the road towards the small town of Dolakha. Once you reach Dolakha, take the route toward Singati. After Singati, continue along the road until you reach the Rolwaling Valley, specifically heading towards the village of Beding. From Beding, Rolwalingtal is a short trek upwards into the valley. Note that the road conditions can be challenging, and it’s advisable to check weather conditions before starting your journey.
Public Transportation
To reach Rolwalingtal via public transportation, take a bus from Kathmandu to Barabise. Buses leave regularly from the Gongabu Bus Park. The journey takes about 4-6 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. From Barabise, look for local jeeps or buses heading to Dolakha. Once in Dolakha, you can take a local bus or jeep to Singati. From Singati, you will need to trek to Beding, which is the closest village to Rolwalingtal. The trek from Beding to Rolwalingtal takes approximately 2-3 hours. Make sure to carry sufficient cash for the bus fares and any local transportation costs.
Trekking
If you are already in Rolwaling Valley, the best way to reach Rolwalingtal is by trekking. Start your trek from Beding, which is a well-known village in the valley. Follow the trail that leads upwards towards Rolwalingtal. The trek is relatively steep and can take about 2-3 hours, depending on your pace. Make sure to carry enough water, snacks, and a map or GPS, as the trail can be less marked in certain sections. It's a good idea to hire a local guide if you are unfamiliar with the area.
