Getting There

• Private Car

  If you are traveling by private car, enter Lalitpur and head towards Mangal Bazaar. From the center of Lalitpur, follow the signs towards Patan Darbar Square. Once you arrive at Mangal Bazaar, look for parking options nearby, as the square itself is pedestrianized. Be prepared for some traffic as you approach the area, especially during peak hours.

• Public Bus

  To reach Patan Darbar Square via public bus, take a bus from Kathmandu to Lagankhel, which is one of the closest bus stops to Patan. Buses leave frequently from various points in Kathmandu, including Ratna Park. The fare is around NPR 25-50. Once you arrive in Lagankhel, you can either walk to Patan Darbar Square (about 15-20 minutes) or take a local tuk-tuk for around NPR 100-200.

• Taxi or Ride-Sharing Service

  For a more comfortable option, you can take a taxi or use a ride-sharing service like Pathao or Tootle. Simply request a ride to 'Patan Darbar Square' or provide the address 'Lalitpur 44600'. The fare from central Kathmandu should be around NPR 500-800, depending on traffic. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes.

• Walking from Lagankhel

  If you prefer to walk from Lagankhel, exit the bus at the Lagankhel bus stop and head south towards Mangal Bazaar. Follow the signs to Patan Darbar Square. The walk is approximately 1.5 km and takes about 15-20 minutes. You'll pass through local markets and get a glimpse of daily life in Lalitpur.
